About Us & Our Ethos
We are not beekeepers. We are guardians.
That distinction matters to us more than anything else. The bees were here long before us, and with the right care and respect, they will be here long after. Our role is not to exploit them — it is to protect them, support them, and learn from them every single day.
Our Story
Ray began his beekeeping journey in 2008, at a time when he was working as an industrial chemist aboard superyachts — a world away from the quiet hum of a Maltese apiary. The only thing he had in common with bees back then, as he'll tell you himself, was that he never stopped. What started as a hobby quickly became something far deeper — a passion that would eventually lead Ray to leave his career behind and dedicate himself entirely to the bees. Today, beekeeping is not just his profession. It is his life's work.
Denise, meanwhile, had taken a very different path. A full-time mother to four children for many years, she had always been a devoted nature lover — tending her garden with the same meticulous care and attention that she would later bring to the hives. In her earlier years, she had worked as a lab technician at Malta's prime brewery, where she developed a keen understanding of natural processes, fermentation, and the science behind what nature produces.
Ray and Denise had known each other in their teens, but life, as it so often does, had sent them in different directions. Then, quite by chance, they reconnected in 2015. The first time Ray introduced Denise to his bees, she was completely and utterly hooked. She hasn't looked back since.
Both Ray and Denise have invested years in studying and understanding bees — attending courses, deepening their knowledge, and never stopping learning. Because when you are a guardian of something as extraordinary as a honeybee colony, there is always more to discover.
Growing Together
Since 2015, Ray and Denise have worked side by side to grow the business into something they are truly proud of — a sustainable, trustworthy operation built on a foundation of genuine love for the bees and deep respect for the natural world. Denise brought her scientific background and passion for natural formulation to the business, going on to earn an Advanced Diploma in Organic Skincare Formulation from Formula Botanica — one of the world's most respected organic cosmetic science schools. Today, every skincare product we make is expertly formulated using the finest ingredients from our own hives.
Together, they have built not just a beekeeping business, but a community — educating children through the national Let's Talk Farming programme, offering unforgettable apitourism experiences, and sharing their knowledge with anyone who wants to learn.
Our Ethos
Everything we do is guided by one simple principle: the health of the bees comes before all financial gain.
We practice natural, sustainable beekeeping. We do not use synthetic chemicals in our hives. We do not push our colonies beyond their natural limits. We harvest only what the bees can spare, and we give back to the land that sustains them. We believe that a healthy bee colony is not just good for business — it is our responsibility as guardians of these extraordinary creatures.
This ethos extends to every product we make. Our honey is raw and unprocessed. Our skincare is 100% natural and expertly formulated. Our candles, food wraps, and beeswax products are made with the same care and integrity that we bring to the hives. No shortcuts. No compromises. Ever.
Recognised for what we believe in
Over the years, our commitment to quality and sustainability has been recognised with awards that mean the world to us — from two international gold medals for our Maltese honey at the London and Paris Honey Awards, to the Green Business Award 2025, the Malta Business Awards for Sustainability 2023 (Runners Up), and the Best Partner in Schools award at the Let's Talk Farming Awards 2024.
But the recognition that matters most to us is simpler than any trophy: it's the child who goes home from a school visit and tells their parents they want to save the bees. It's the customer who writes to say our honey is the best they've ever tasted. It's the knowledge that what we do, every day, makes a difference.
